Art Education & Pedagogy

Elizabeth spent her residency year teaching Art 1 and Studio Art at Chicago Academy High School where she developed and implemented several art projects in various mediums that strengthen artistic skills, concept development, and are multidisciplinary.

Her teacher persona and pedagogical approach has developed over her residency year. Her pedagogy lies at the convergence of artistic literacy and skills, social and emotional support and development, and using art as a means for social practice, creating a more just world. Her guiding principle is to provide students with the right tools and foundational education on what art is and can be through demonstrating the fundamentals of the art process.

As an educator her intention is to create a welcoming safe space where students can use art to express themselves and feel valued and supported in the classroom. In her classroom, she empowers students to use artistic tools to create social change and personal expression.
